DJ Rob Loe
DJ
DJ Rob-Loe was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, the birthplace of the world’s number one music genre, Hip-Hop. Rob-Loe was introduced to Hip-Hop at the age of 11 while sitting on the fire escape at his grandmother’s house on Boston Road watching and listening to the block party at the schoolyard across the street, IS 63 Schoolyard. For the first time, he witnessed a DJ spinning records on turntables while MCs were rhyming on the mic. While the entire atmosphere was incredible, Rob-Loe became most intrigued by the DJ. Eventually, sneaking out grandma’s house to get across the street to where the party was he found out that the DJ, who was unknown at that time, was DJ Grandmaster Flash and the two MCs on the mic was Kid Creole and Melle Mel of the now world famous GM Flash and the Furious Five. By the age of 13 Rob-Loe saved enough money doing paper routes, walking dogs, washing neighbor’s cars, etc. to buy his first set of turntables. He developed his DJ skills going to various parties all over NY but mainly in the Bronx and Harlem and watching the DJ closely and attentively. By the time he was 15 he was the DJ for a crew called the Homicide Crew comprised of him and 3 MCs from the Bronx and Yonkers.
By the time he went to college Rob-Loe had to learn how to transition from being a DJ for MCs spinning mostly break beats and instrumentals to learning how to rock a party and be a crowd entertainer. Well-travelled up and down the east coast, DJ Rob-Loe began doing parties all through his years in college and immediately after. He eventually was hired by the Source Magazine to be their Grassroots Tour DJ for an extended promotion with Mountain Dew. Known mostly as the "Golden Era Guru” DJ Rob-Loe continued rocking parties both public and private. He founded a company called Street Source Entertainment and he’s been rockin’ the house ever since. In the words of DJ Rob-Loe, “I don’t just do parties, I create memorable occasions!”
